{"id":5424,"date":"2021-10-27T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-10-26T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sitgescb.protectfive.com\/melia-sitges-a-fantastic-hotel\/"},"modified":"2021-10-27T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-10-26T22:00:00","slug":"melia-sitges-a-fantastic-hotel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sitgescb.protectfive.com\/en\/melia-sitges-a-fantastic-hotel\/","title":{"rendered":"The Meli\u00e1 Sitges, a fantastic hotel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/sitgescb.cat\/en\/listings\/melia-sitges\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Meli\u00e1 Sitges\" rel=\"noopener\">Hotel Melia Sitges<\/a> hosted two of the most important events of the season in Sitges on its premises. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the one hand, <strong>it was the venue for the Women&#8217;s World Chess Championship<\/strong>, where sixty players from 12 international delegations competed from September 26<sup>th<\/sup> to October 3<sup>rd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>This was followed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/sitgesfilmfestival.com\/eng\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Sitges Film Festival\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Sitges, 54th International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia<\/strong><\/a>, which took place from October 7<sup>th<\/sup> to 17<sup>th<\/sup>, and where 103,038 spectators reaffirmed people&#8217;s enthusiasm for fantastic genre, the experience of going to see movies in theaters and the industry&#8217;s excellent health. This figure far exceeds last year&#8217;s attendance, with 59,315 spectators, and is on track to reach the pre-pandemic numbers of 2019, a year when there was a total of 130,206 moviegoers.<\/p>\n<p>As has been customary in recent years, <strong>Meli\u00e1 Sitges becomes the Festival&#8217;s nerve center<\/strong>, hosting between five and seven screenings a day during the Festival&#8217;s dates as well as the Festival&#8217;s opening and closing night ceremonies, which take place in its spectacular auditorium with a seating capacity for up to 1,384 people.<\/p>\n<p>The Festival has already announced the dates for its 55<sup>th<\/sup> edition, which will take place from the 6<sup>th<\/sup> to the 16<sup>th<\/sup> of October 2022 and will celebrate the 40<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of great milestones in genre films including Tron (Steven Lisberger, 1982), The Thing (John Carpenter, 1982) and Conan the Barbarian (John Milius, 1982).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Hotel Melia Sitges hosted two of the most important events of the season in Sitges on its premises: the Women&#8217;s World Chess Championship and the Sitges, 54th International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":5422,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[326,307],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-5424","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-hot-news-sitges-cb-membersmelia-sitges","category-tips-and-tricks"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
