The town has been gradually recovering its pre-pandemic momentum and is committed to consolidating its brand\/presence<\/u> internationally, by attending professional workshops and securing professional meetings in Sitges. Likewise, sustainability and legacy will be priority areas for its promotion. <\/strong><\/p>\n

On Tuesday, April 26th<\/sup>, the Sitges Convention Bureau held its annual assembly at the ME Sitges Terramar Hotel<\/strong>. During the event, the most important actions for 2022 to promote the destination in the MICE segment were presented. Attended by 34 associate members, the assembly was presided over by the Mayor of Sitges<\/strong>, Aurora Carbonell, who emphasized “the Sitges Town Council’s commitment to tourism, the town’s main economic engine, and above all to sustainable tourism. Related to this concept of sustainability, the Sitges Convention Bureau continues to be a key player in the destination’s deseasonalization and diversification. During the two years of the pandemic, work for this segment has been uninterrupted, and we will continue to promote it in the years to come”.<\/p>\n

The Sitges CB’s 2022 Action Plan combines direct commercial actions that are designed to maintain Sitges’ presence as a benchmark destination for the MICE sector in Catalonia, second only to Barcelona, and to attract professional meetings to be held in Sitges, which will generate economic impact. The municipal program anticipates attending more than 30 workshops and professional trade fairs and has already hosted the British market’s “All About People”<\/strong> professional meeting, which brought together 100 sector professionals in Sitges with the attendance of 46 meeting planning agencies from the United Kingdom. At the same time, the Sitges CB will carry out joint actions with the EMA, an association that it has been a gold member of since 2020, and which brings together more than 300 associates that generate and organize company events, and with other professional associations.<\/p>\n

Sustainability and legacy in professional meetings are of strategic importance, and in this regard the Sitges CB has published and distributed a guide to sustainability and best practices<\/strong> so that meeting organizers are aware of the possibilities that Sitges has to offer. Sports and healthy lifestyle habits are increasingly important at professional meetings as well, and in this regard, we have also published a guide to sports facilities in Sitges<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Sitges CB’s annual meeting also served to explain the initiatives undertaken in 2021, highlighting the 5 professional national market meetings hosted in Sitges, the press and fam trips and, at the same time, the inspection visits that brought more than 400 sector professionals to our town. Of particular relevance in 2021 was the knowledge and legacy action “F5, Sitges refreshing MICE”<\/strong>, which generated discussion panels, training, and research activities. Last year, the Sitges CB participated in 22 workshops, presenting the range of MICE services on offer to 450 organizers, received 104 requests to bring meetings to the destination and generated 31 articles in the written and online press.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
