Meliá Sitges, equipped with the most cutting-edge technology, has installed the innovative SGAirQ system that measures and improves air quality in real time.

This system was introduced for the 53rd edition of the International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, which took place this past October in Sitges. For 11 days, the Meliá Sitges Auditorium hosted both the opening and closing ceremonies and between five and seven daily screenings during the Festival, complying with all the measures stipulated by the health authorities.

With a seating capacity of 1,384, which was reduced to 70%, it was obligatory to use a mask in the theaters and in all interior and exterior spaces, there was social distancing in all lines, entry and exit protocols, sanitizing points with hydrogel, numbered seats (with no possible changes or relocation), 1 hour between screenings for the ventilation and cleaning of theaters by certified companies, air control and carbon dioxide measurement, etc.Meliá Sitges has installed SGAirQ in its Auditorium and Tramuntana Room, an innovative platform for indoor air quality management, which makes it possible to control the temperature, the percentage of humidity and the level of C02 concentration inside its rooms, in order to improve the comfort of meeting attendees.

The system allows information to be collected on the status of indoor air quality and comfort in real time by means of QR code and the introduction of key algorithms to optimize and control the ventilation installation. It also facilitates the analysis of data obtained on comfort, air quality and the evolution of energy costs in ventilation. Through SGAirQ, the quality of the indoor environment can be monitored in real time, by reading the QR code or the screen’s Dashboard.

The implementation of the SGAirQ system guarantees the sustainability of these systems, avoiding energy costs associated with the increase in optimum air quality, with the adaptation of existing systems.

This innovation at the Melia Sitges reinforces all the initiatives and protocols implemented with the “Stay Safe with Meliá program certified by Bureau Veritas, which promotes confidence in event organization safety and encourages a continuing commitment to in-person events.
