The Sitges CB celebrates its twenty years with a professional and institutional day full of emotions
On Friday 11 July, Sitges Convention Bureau held the closing event of its twentieth anniversary with an institutional and professional gathering that brought together around one hundred people linked to the MICE sector: members; founding members and former members of the executive committee; representatives of the Catalunya Convention Bureau, the Provincial Council of Barcelona, the BCB and other convention bureaus in the country; political and technical leaders; and event organisers who have chosen Sitges over the years.
The event was a chance to recognise the CB’s two decades of efforts to position Sitges as a benchmark destination in the segment and to look ahead and reflect together on the intangible value of events and the emotions they spark.
With the slogan ‘The whole is much greater than the sum of its parts’, the gathering showcased two decades of collective work and shared future prospects.
After the annual assembly of Sitges CB members, the event continued with a space of reflection and debate called Sitges CB EMO Talks. Jordi Nexus, a speaker and expert catalyst of experiences, participated in the session by telling a story about the history of MICE in Sitges. Over these twenty years, the Sitges CB has attended or organised more than 390 commercial actions and has welcomed 247 fam-trips and press-trips. Sitges CB remarked the Sitges presentation in Bilbao in 2008, in Madrid in 2005, 2008 and 2019, in which, they thrilled all ‘6 senses’ of 43 event organisers. Sitges CB ambassadors have included Lucrecia, Fernando Guillén and Jordi Milán. Here are some of the most noteworthy actions.
Raimond Torrents, CEO of the Event Management Institute and Torrents & Friends, presented the talk ‘Sitges, Emotional Territory. The measurable value of a destination’, based on the importance of measuring the emotional impact of events, and he presented traditional and neurosensory methodologies for assessing ROE and emotions as a driver of business. In the open mic session, participants were also able to share their experiences and ideas. Edgard Sanjuán from the company Emogg showed the emotional results measured during the professional space.
Xavi Ripoll Martinez, Councillor of Tourism, Social Rights, Citizenship and Equality, offered the welcome along with the Councillor for Tourism, Anna Herrera. The mayor of Sitges, Aurora Carbonell, closed the event. La asamblea anual, con asistencia de 35 asociados, es el encuentro anual de los socios del Sitges CB, donde se abren nuevas oportunidades de colaboración y sinergias entre las empresas asociadas. Durante la reunión, se resumieron las acciones llevadas a cabo para alcanzar los objetivos del Plan de acciones de 2024, las acciones del primer semestre de 2025, las más destacadas de promoción previstas para el segundo semestre de 2025, y la estrategia de negocio para 2025 y 2026 para la captación de congresos, reuniones, convenciones y viajes de incentivos en Sitges.
La jornada finalizó con una comida de networking para compartir experiencias, generar conexiones y seguir sumando complicidades.
Esta es la clausura de un año emblemático para el Sitges Convention Bureau, que finaliza la conmemoración de su 20.º aniversario con una mirada estratégica hacia el futuro y el compromiso de seguir posicionando a Sitges como destino MICE.
