From June 14th to 17th, Sitges was the meeting point for the National MICE sector. The Sitges Convention Bureau, in collaboration with its associate members, brought together 200 professionals from specialized agencies and professional associations representing the national MICE sector to hold 4 in-person events in Sitges.
Co-organized and sponsored by the Sitges Convention Bureau, Sitges hosted the IDEMICE on-site Assembly, the IBERIAN MICE FÓRUMS on-site meeting and its social activities, the second EMA Consensum work group as part of the F5 Sitges Refreshing MICE program and the post-tour with industry professionals who were eager to learn more about the destination.
IMF, the I’M+ IDEMICE Assembly and the EMA work group were all a boost of optimism regarding the imminent revitalization of the national MICE sector, from Sitges and with the support of the Sitges CB which, in this new phase we are now entering, wishes to generate knowledge, promoting conferences and meetings that will enable us to rethink the future and lay the groundwork between all the different players in order to move forward with renewed strength, with more information and improving our quality as a destination.The Iberian MICE Fórums were held on June 15th and 16th, with the collaboration of the Sitges CB and Finca Mas Solers, the venue for the event. The meeting brought together more than 150 sector professionals, who conducted more than 1,200 one-to-one meetings. Corporate event organizers, companies and suppliers participated in leadership workshops, discovered unique venues in a number of different Spanish destinations and established new partnerships to revitalize the sector.
As part of the social agenda, resumed at this year’s IMF and a Forum hallmark, the Sitges CB organized an outing aboard the Naval Tours Eco Sail catamaran, in collaboration with Familia Torres and Grup Matas Arnalot, to discover Sitges’ coastline. Afterwards, they all enjoyed dinner at La Taberna del Puerto in the Port de Aiguadolç Marina.One of the key highlights of the Iberian MICE Forums event was “Consensum II”, a program spearheaded by the EMA (Event Managers Association) and sponsored by the Sitges CB as part of its F5 Sitges Refreshing MICE program. Adaptability and changes in their business model were the main topics of the work group that brought together the main event organizers and representatives of major Spanish companies in Sitges.
Ángeles Moreno, Director of The Creative Dots, Iñaki Collado, President of the Association of Incentive Agencies Idemice I’m+, Javier Batanero, Director of Marketing, e-commerce and Digital Transformation at Shared-C and María Gómez, President of the Event Managers Association of Spain (EMA), were the panel’s main speakers. A number of the IMF attendees extended their stay in Sitges, accompanied by the Sitges CB, in order to visit other event venues such as Masía Vilanoveta, Clos La Plana, Torre del Veguer Winery, Terramar Racetrack, Hotel Mim Sitges, Maricel Palace and the Malvasia Interpretation Center.The Assembly of IDEMICE – I’M, the Association of Incentive Travel Agencies, was held on June 14th, attended by 35 representatives of the member agencies and from Dolce Sitges, where they discussed the sector and the incentive market’s revival period, held workshops on sustainability, legal areas of training and reached common agreements.
They were also able to get to know the destination up close and personally. The Sitges CB, in collaboration with Grup Limousines, organized a tour in 12 classic cars that started at Dolce Sitges, passed through the Terramar Racetrack, continued to Me Sitges Terramar, where a dinner was presided over by Aurora Carbonell, Mayor of Sitges, and Luis Miguel García Alcaraz, Town Councilor for Tourism.
