IMC21, el fórum de debate internacional sobre el nuevo modelo de movilidad y transporte público se celebrará en Sitges en septiembre, espera recibir 800 profesionales.

  • The International Mobility Congress (IMC21) presented this morning in Barcelona expects to receive 800 professionals of the sector to find applied solutions to mobility in the local environment.
  • In the first edition, this professional event will focus on understanding how the post COVID era will define the future of the public mobility model.
  • IMC21, which this year will be face-to-face and online, aims to become a model in the European mobility sector.
  • During the two days, 70 speakers will review cases of global success and will debate the future of mobility.

Under the motto ‘Drive to innovation’, the International Mobility Congress will celebrate its first edition the 21st and 22nd of September. The congress aims to find its own space in the international calendar of fairs and congresses about mobility.

The presentation of the congress was under the charge of the secretary of Territory and Mobility, Isidre Gavín, the mayoress of Sitges and president of the Association of Municipalities for Mobility and Urban Transport (AMTU), Aurora Carbonell, and the director of the congress, Joan Serra.

Gavín has stated that “the Generalitat is an active part of this Congresss and its organization demonstrates Barcelona´s leadership, its metropolitan area, and Catalunya in the mobility of the future.” On this matter, the secretary of territory and Mobility has explained that “the mobility will be a key factor to achieve the shared environmental challenges and that the new model which opens after this pandemic, which we have not left behind yet, is a challenge which involves all the administrations and all the operators both public and private.”

Isidre Gavín has summarized the participation of the Generalitat at the IMC: “We will talk about the specific measures adopted in the case of interurban transport by road such as the applications to obtain information about the estimated capacity of vehicles and purchase of single tickets through the app. In the digitalization part, new tendencies and experience of the users, we will explain the mobility connected to 5G and the Mobility. The experiences of the European Projects Last Mile, Trails & Connect will also be shown.

The Congress will take place in Sitges, municipality in which its mayoress, Aurora Carbonell, is also president of the Association of Municipalities for Mobility and Urban Transport(AMTU). Carbonell has expressed the commitment of Sitges with the Congress: “The International Mobility Congress is the first international congress which will be held in Catalunya organized from within our own country´s public transport sector, with the objective of placing Catalunya in the center of the debate about the new mobility, and to provide real solutions to public and local mobility”, she stated.

 Joan Serra, director of the congress, has pointed out the opportunity which entails activating the training scenes, tendency discovery and creation of professional networks: “The congress aims to become a professional meeting point to undestand how the post COVID environment will be, to achieve the sustainable development objectives and to squeeze all the potential of innovation towards this new mobility model, with applied solutions and analyzing cases of worldwide success”, he pointed out.

 

 

A hybrid COVID-Less Congress: face-to-face and digital

 On its first edition, the International Mobility Congress will be a hybrid event. Its digitalization means a great possibility of internationalization of the congress, as well a great interaction tool among the attendees. The organization of the congress has prepared COVID-Less measures to guarantee the safety of the face-to-face attendees.

At the IMC21 the focus will be set on specific and applicable solutions, such as sustainable mobility as an asset for a turistic destination, the COVID-Less tools or the roll the new mobility should have in the new programs of European funding Next Generation. It will also have a tendency discovery space, such as passenger flights with drones, and the participation of the European Space Agency.

The event will feature 30 talks which will be enjoyed throughout the two days of the congress.  In addition to the official program, parallel sessions will be held at the FORUM hall. On the other hand, a networking space will be included, a commercial exposition area and other events organized by the entities which collaborate on the project.
