Here you will find the implemented sustainable practices by Nootka Kayak & Sup, associated through concrete actions with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals:

Equality policies

They adopt gender equality labor measures and promote labor empowerment in their work systems.

Community outreach actions

Coastal cleanup days. They collaborate with the CEM (Center for Marine Studies) in conferences and activities. They collaborate with the Club Natació Sitges doing the security with kayaks for the Travessa Nedant de Sitges (Sitges Swimming Crossing).

Social actions

Collaboration agreements with the organization Ave Maria and the ABD Associació Benestar i Desenvolupament (Welfare and Development Association).

Non-use/reduction of disposable plastics

They reduce the use of plastic and only use single-use plastics made from recycled plastics.

Recycling and waste

They take measures to minimize the waste generated with their activity and perform its correct separation. During guided excursions they collect the plastics they find in the sea and in the coves.

Energy savings and efficiency

Installation of low-consumption LED lights. Efficient air conditioning of the rooms via natural air re-circulation, avoiding the use of energy. The use of public transportation is encouraged.

Responsible water use management

Their facilities promote efficient water consumption. Informative signs to promote water saving.

Infrastructure

The entire base construction is made of wood with walls insulated by air chambers and painted with water-based paints.

Cultural preservation and promotion

They provide information on Sitges’ historical and cultural heritage.

Consumption of goods from local producers, healthy foods

Use of Mm0 locally-sourced food products. The snacks offered for the activities are from local businesses and sustainable agriculture.

 Sustainable use of the ecosystem and marine resources

They organize activities that respect the natural heritage and the local fauna. They provide information about the natural resources of the Garraf, Olerdola and Foix parks and the Garraf marine reserve.

Other policies

As a company that conducts activities in the natural environment, they are committed to its preservation. They raise awareness regarding its richness and fragility, and the need to be respectful with it. Their maxim is that our presence should go unnoticed and always leave the areas where the activities are performed looking better than how we found them.
