The latest news regarding the sector in Sitges: new Automotive and Mobility Handbook; fantastic and innovative festivals; and last Associate members news.

For the second consecutive year, the International Mobility Congress was held in Sitges, organized by the AMTU (Association of Cities for Mobility and Urban Transport), chaired by Aurora Carbonell, Mayor of Sitges. This year the focus was on two major topics: sustainable, safe and inclusive mobility; and digitalization, with a social commitment to make mobility inclusive and accessible to everyone. All this in a context of public-private collaboration to achieve these global goals.

The Catalunya Convention Bureau launched the new Catalunya Meetings & Mobility project, the result of joint work with the MICE industry, the sustainable automotive sector of Catalonia, ACCIO and the Generalitat de Catalunya’s OPTIMA office for the transformation of mobility.

The Sitges CB was part of the task force and has drawn up a guide that brings together all the elements necessary for automotive and mobility events to be a success at this destination. Sitges offers hotels, venues and services for events, all multipurpose and adapted to the sector, with an extensive and modern road network that surrounds it and providing green, blue, orange, white and gray landscapes that leave no one indifferent. Unique facilities like the historic 1923 Terramar Racetrack, or automotive events that have been held since 1959, complement the destination’s range of options.

Fantastic and Innovative Sitges

The 55th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia took place on October and has gone down in history as one of its most successful editions, even more so than in pre-pandemic times.

Meliá Sitges, the central headquarters of the Festival has two projection rooms: the Auditorium, with capacity for 1,380 spectators, and the Tramuntana Room, where 400 journalists gather first thing in the morning to enjoy press screenings.

The 7th edition of Sitges Next will be held on November, a festival dedicated to promoting innovation in communication for brands, agencies, start-ups and technological creators.

We welcomed two different fam-trips with a total of 15 professionals specialized in MICE and 4 journalists, who were able to discover the destination, thanks to the Sitges CB and its associate members. One organized by the CCB as part of the MEETCatalunya Forum and the other for the Nordic market, organized by the Swedish OTS.

Meliá Sitges once again welcomed the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia at its facilities, this year celebrating its 55^th edition, which has been one of the most successful in terms of audience turnout, even more so than in pre-pandemic times.

The CIM offers activities for groups related to Sitges’ history and DNA, for example a guided tour of Sitges entitled “Olor a Mosto” (Smell of Must) with the leitmotiv of wine in Sitges and ending at the CIM with a tasting in its urban vineyards.

Torre del Veguer, a winery located just 15 minutes from Sitges, expands its wine tourism options with electric bicycle routes, starting the tour in Sitges, traveling along country roads through the Garraf region’s vineyards until arriving at the winery.

Fun-Acció Sitges celebrates its 10^th anniversary and is celebrating it by organizing a fam-trip for its clients in Sitges on Saturday, November 12^th, including activities and experiences to relax and learn more about the company’s proposals firsthand.

Roccomotion Audiovisual, a Sitges-based production company specializing in audiovisual communication, is adding 360º technology to its services to take photographs and virtual tours where viewers can experience the tour remotely.

The Sitges CB hosted the fam-trip organized by the CCB as part of the #MEETCATALUNYA event and they experienced the destination up close and personally, together with the Sitges CB and its Associate Members.
