Torre del Veguer, the winery located just 15 minutes from Sitges, is expanding its range of wine tourism services after confirming the increase in MICE tourism in Sitges.
Meeting, congress, convention and incentive tourism was particularly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, but in 2022 it has steadily rebounded, reaching figures of more than 80% compared to 2019 in Catalonia.
This increase in statistics has not only been seen in the main establishments for MICE tourism, such as high-end hotels or meeting venues, but also in complementary destinations, where visitors can relax, unwind and learn about the local culture and history.
One of these destinations that’s very close to Sitges is Torre del Veguer, a winery located in a Fortified Farmhouse dating back to 1359, set between the Mediterranean Sea and the Garraf Mountains. Featuring a 2,000 m2 garden and interior rooms with a total capacity for more than 100 people, it is an ideal venue for organizing meetings, teambuilding activities or company dinners.
This year has seen an increase in national and international business travelers, who visited the winery with the intention of unwinding from their jobs, strengthening ties with their colleagues or learning more about the region’s culture and history. That is why the winery has decided to expand its options with new wine tourism proposals.
Among them we could highlight the tour of the winery, listed as a historic-artistic building by the Generalitat de Catalunya, ending with a pairing of 4 wines from the estate itself, with 4 chocolates made by Simón Coll, a local chocolate factory located in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia.
Another activity that incentive and business groups enjoyed were the electric bicycle tours, organized by the Kili Cycling Tours company, starting the tour in Sitges, riding along the country roads through the vineyards of the Garraf region, until arriving at the winery. Once there, visitors took the tour and tasted a couple of wines, to later continue pedaling back to the coastal town. This activity had such a positive impact that the wine company has decided to implement this tour as a standard part of its proposals, in addition to the cheese, Iberian cured meats, tapas or foie gras pairings that they already offered.
In conclusion, Torre del Veguer is a venue located near a major MICE hub as important as Sitges, and at the same time in the idyllic enclave of the Garraf Massif, where business visitors can reconnect with nature and relax for a few moments while enjoying fine wine and views of the sea.
