Sitges Malvasia has always been more than just a sweet wine. Its ties to Sitges are part of the town’s DNA. The CIM-Sitges Malvasia Interpretation Center, promoted by the Sant Joan Baptista Hospital Foundation, is located in the former Corral de la Vila (Town Farmyard) and in the Hospital’s old cellar, in a building for public use dating back to the 18th century. With its traditional architecture, it houses the contents of the Sitges Malvasia museum and this grape variety’s urban vineyard.
Once the tour is over, you can enjoy a tasting of wines made from Malvasia grapes. The center offers activities for groups related to Sitges’ history and DNA, so you can take a guided tour around Sitges called “A Scent of Must” with the leitmotiv of wine in Sitges and end the visit at the CIM with a tasting in its urban vineyards, in the courtyard or in one of its rooms. Another option is the activity “A Sea of Malvasia”, offered in collaboration with the Sitges Fishermen’s Association, where, in addition to the destination’s winemaking tradition, you can learn about the arts of fishing and savor a typical communal seafood meal.
