Implemented sustainable practices by Hotel Calipolis, associated through concrete actions with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals:

Equality policies

At Hotel Calipolis, we care about giving equal opportunities to all employees, starting from our selection processes, and continuing to our promotion and professional development models.

Community outreach actions

Collaborations with the Ave Maria Foundation and the Sitges Red Cross

Social actions

MF ROVIRALTA FOUNDATION
An important part (practically half, 50%) of the profits generated by the Hotel Calipolis revert to the Maria Francisca de ROVIRALTA FOUNDATION, which allocates the funds generated to charitable purposes in Spain and other countries in need all over the world.

PATRICIA and CARLOS MULLER FOUNDATION
Another significant part of its profits are allocated to the PATRICIA and CARLOS MULLER FOUNDATION, whose purpose is to provide financial assistance to elderly people in precarious or needy situations and to young people who do not have resources for their training. It also seeks to collaborate with hospitals and similar charitable institutions.

TRAINING AND WORK FOUNDATION
The hotel hires its laundry service from the Fundació Formació i Treball (Training and Work Foundation), whose mission is to provide easier access to the labor market for people at risk of social exclusion.

COLLABORATION AGREEMENTS
The Hotel Calipolis has collaboration agreements in force with the Fundación Éxito for the job placement of young people at risk of social exclusion through the Coach Project and with the Cáritas Training and Work Foundation, for the job placement of young people through work experience in the establishment itself.

Non-use/reduction of disposable plastics

We try to always use glass bottles for conventions, except in the case of theater productions.

Recycling and waste

Recycling bins in all areas of the hotel.  All waste generated by the hotel is duly treated separately for better classification by the local waste collection company.

Energy saving and efficiency

Thanks to the use of new lighting technologies (LED) and investments in highly energy-efficient machinery, we have achieved a 50% reduction in electrical consumption per room in the last five years. Reduction of electrical and fuel consumption for hot water.

Responsible water use management

For the purpose of reducing water consumption and avoiding water wastage, specific taps have been installed to remind and promote the need to avoid wastage with recommendations written in multiple languages for guests in all restrooms.

Consumption of goods from local producers, healthy foods

Locally sourced and KM0 products. All our kitchen and dining room staff have food handler’s licenses and their training in this area is continually being updated.
We specify which foods may contain allergens and what kind of allergens they might be. In addition, we have menus suited to different types of allergies.

Mobility: electric car charging stations, bicycles, …

4 charging stations for electric vehicles.  Electric scooter and bicycle rentals.

Other policies

Use of stationery with no or minimal chlorine. Concerned about the dermatological effects on our guests and employees, all gels and soaps offered as part of our amenities and available in bathrooms are made with natural and hypoallergenic components. For the cleaning of rooms, the restaurant, kitchen, halls, and common areas, we use only environmentally neutral and biodegradable materials.
