Events are changing, now sustainability, emotions, “engagement” are essential for the sector, and this is why Sitges is adapting to the new trends. We are kicking off 2023 with accolades for the work done as a destination, the Biosphere Gold certification and the certificate of membership in the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations (DTI), which are a source of opportunities to adapt to the present moment.

In December 2022, Sitges received the Biosphere Gold certification in recognition of the joint work done by the administration and local businesses. Biosphere, an award that Sitges has been receiving since 2016, is an international certificate that accredits the sustainability of both destinations and their companies, and it is endorsed by the World Tourism Organization. 32 companies and tourist attractions in Sitges, as well as its beaches, the Garraf Park, the Sitges – Aiguadolç Marina and the Terramar Golf Club, among others, are currently aligned with the Biosphere commitment.In addition, as part of FITUR, Sitges received an award as a Smart Tourism Destination from SEGITTUR, the State Agency for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies, a forward-looking strategy based on governance, sustainability, accessibility, innovation and technology as its cornerstones.
