Sitges hosts the first WE CAN CHANGE TRAVEL event, “We Come from the Future” by the Travel Advisors Guild.
Travel Advisors Guild (TAG), one of the market’s main players in the MICE world, held the first event of its “We Can Change Travel” project last Wednesday the 12th, with the support and collaboration of the Sitges Convention Bureau. The venue for the meeting was the completely refurbished Dolce Sitges hotel, which reopened its doors a week earlier.
The event took place using a hybrid format and was attended by 85 in-person participants and more than 300 virtual participants via live streaming.
This day of training and reflection brought together members of the TAG Community, including the CEOs of its partner agencies, directors of the main tourism providers and specialized press.
“We Come from the Future” kicked off with a presentation by Ignacio Martínez Mendizábal, one of the world’s leading specialists in Human Evolution, and a member of the Research Team of the Sierra de Atapuerca Pleistocene Deposits. The presentations “Learning from Tomorrow, from Now” by Luz Fernández, head of the Centro de Formación Permanente de Tecnocampus (Tecnocampus Lifelong Learning Center), and Sandra Sánchez, Project Manager of this Center, illustrated the incorporation of technology with techniques such as: Boot camps, Hackathons, mentoring, which position micro-credentials as the main vector of learning, summarized in the concept of Learnability, the ability to learn skills over the course of one’s lifetime. To close the event, Paula Fernández-Ochoa with her talk “Shake Out Your Gray Suit” reminded us that the future is a place full of challenges, but also of opportunities.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the Round Table: “Year 2050, Have a Pleasant Journey” with representatives from Iberia, NH Hotel Group, Avis and the Regional Government of Andalusia. In it we learned that the future is not something we wait for, we create it.
