Experiencies and activities, Unique venues
Familia Torres
With a history spanning over a hundred years, Familia Torres is a family winery in the Penedès region that promotes wine culture through respect for the land and a commitment to tradition. The fifth generation is focusing on producing wines from unique vineyards and historic estates, rediscovering ancestral varieties and embracing regenerative viticulture as a way to fight climate change.
The winery, in the heart of the Penedès, is a stone’s throw from Sitges and the city of Barcelona. Surrounded by vineyards and nature, it’s the ideal space to enjoy all kinds of original activities, wine tastings, pairings and exclusive tours, as well as the finest local cuisine at the winery’s restaurant, El Celleret, located right next to the vineyards and boasting views of Montserrat mountain.
The site also offers a wide range of corporate spaces and activities, perfect for meetings and other events.

Equality policies
Familia Torres seeks to strengthen its commitment to diversity, equity and non-discrimination through its Equality Policy, which includes measures to promote equal opportunities between men and women, make gender equality part of human resources management, promote changes in relation to behaviour, gender stereotypes and organisational structures, and overcome the challenges that often get in the way of labour market access, presence, retention and stability for women.
Community initiatives
The Familia Torres Foundation, created in 1986, has played a leading role in over 400 cooperation projects in twelve countries. The community projects carried out focus on the following goals:
• Protecting children through schools and foster homes for orphans at risk of social exclusion.
• Empowering women and fighting gender violence.
• Improving health outcomes for groups in need.
• Making culture accessible to all.
• Humanitarian aid and assistance to regions affected by natural disasters.
Committed to people
Projects the Foundation has worked with include the following:
– Hasen Project – Shelter and psychological support for vulnerable women and children to support their reintegration into society and the labour market.
– She Bistro – A restaurant with purpose, it creates opportunities for people with disabilities and women who have survived gender violence.
– Puntadas de Libertad Project – Personal and professional support and training for incarcerated women in Catalonia, with the goal of achieving social and labour inclusion.
– Espai Familiar Project – Psychological and psychosocial support for families, children and adolescents at the Toni Inglès Educational Residence Facility (CRAE).
In addition to these projects, in 2023 we carried out the following specific initiatives to support good causes:
* Autisme amb Futur: wine pairing fundraiser
* Fundraising dinner with Mans Unides Barcelona
* Poetry recital in the Alfons XIII Room
* 2nd ACTUA Fundraising Walk in Vilafranca
Recycling and waste
Protecting the environment is crucial, and that’s why we have a Comprehensive Waste Management Policy that establishes guidelines based on the principles of minimisation, reuse, recycling and zero waste generation.
Energy saving and efficiency
We generate our own renewable energy with solar panels. In 2024, Familia Torres will achieve 55% self-consumption of energy at its main winery in the Penedès region thanks to solar energy and the use of biomass.
Responsible water use management
Minimum water consumption is achieved thanks to roof gardens that use rainwater optimally and feature local plant species. Dry climate vegetation is used to decorate the space, leading to significant water savings. Furthermore, a layer of white sand has been applied on the grounds to reflect solar energy and reduce the need for air conditioning in the wine cellar located directly below (albedo effect). We have our own wastewater treatment system and a Water Regeneration Station that allows us to reuse nearly half the treated water, mainly for cleaning, cooling and gardening purposes.
Consumption of goods from local producers, healthy foods
In 2019, we opened our Jardí El Celleret restaurant, with Mediterranean cuisine sourcing ingredients from local producers and our own organic garden. We also have a farm with hens and roosters from the Penedès region, reflecting our firm commitment to sustainability and respect for the land and environment.
Mobility: electric car charging stations, bicycles…
For visitors, we have two 100% electric trains and public charging stations for electric vehicles.
Other policies
Since 2008, we’ve had our own environmental sustainability programme, Torres & Earth, which seeks to reduce our carbon footprint throughout the winery, from the vineyards to the final recycling of wine bottles. Our first goal was a 30% reduction of emissions by 2020, which we achieved a year ahead of schedule. For 2030, our goal is to reduce CO2 emissions per bottle by at least 60% across the board, and ultimately reach zero emissions by 2040. To achieve these goals, Familia Torres has drawn up a detailed roadmap, set out in its Net Zero Transition Plan.
All our tours and many of our events take place in the Celler Waltraud winery, which opened in 2008 in the town of Pacs del Penedès. The winery, designed by architect Javier Barba, was built according to the principles of bioclimatic architecture. The building respects the natural ground level, with a first underground tier where the most iconic Familia Torres wines rest and age in barrels.
In 2019, together with Jackson Family Wines, we founded International Wineries for Climate Action, a non-profit organisation that brings together more than 45 wine companies representing nearly 140 wineries in 11 different countries with the main goal of accelerating the decarbonisation of the wine sector.
In 2021, we founded the Associació de Viticultura Regenerativa (Association for Regenerative Viticulture), which seeks to bring about a paradigm shift in vineyard management by using the carbon cycle to regenerate the soil, stop erosion, promote biodiversity and fight climate change.
